About Intervention

Welcome to Intervention

Intervention has 6 classrooms, a dining room, a workshop, vegetable plot and an outdoor play area.  We cater for 16 young people at a time and all staff members are highly experienced and are fully committed to our objective of supporting all young people to enjoy learning.  We also focus upon a learner’s well-being we have a pastoral manager, counsellor and experienced staff.  Our aim is to help young people be better equipped to move on and to ultimately succeed in a school setting appropriate to their needs.  Learners are also given the opportunity to attend vocational placements and work experience towards the end of year 10.

Our key principles are to create positive experiences that lead to positive behaviour.

On entry students and parents will attend an initial interview to complete paperwork and have a tour of the unit.  Students will the be required to complete baseline assessments to identify the level they are working at and any gaps in their learning.

How to apply

Year 9 and 10 students have to be funded to attend iCollege and so mainstream schools will need to apply via Pupil Placement Panel (PPP) and appropriate funding agreed.  Students with EHCPs would need to apply for approval and go via the SEN panel for funding.

Getting to Intervention

Year 9 and 10  Students more than 3 miles from Intervention may be helped with transport in the form of a bus, train pass or taxi if far from a main public route.  Parents will need to apply directly to West Berkshire Home to School transport via  www.westberks.gov.uk/schooltransport
