Independence Year 11 & Post 16

Context 

As its name suggests, Independence’s aim is to motivate all learners so that they progress successfully to the next stage of education, employment, or training- towards ‘independence.’ Independence is a permanent provision for Year 11 and post 16 learners who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. Through small group teaching, experienced and well qualified teaching staff, a well-designed, adaptive and broad curriculum, learners at Independence thrive academically and socially.

  • Adults have created a calm, kind and nurturing atmosphere. They build warm and trusting relationships with pupils, who feel safe and comfortable as a result. Pupils want to please their teachers and are keen to succeed.
