Curriculum at Integration

Curriculum Offer 

Integration’s curriculum is deliberately broad and designed to enable every learner to achieve their potential academically, vocationally, physically, and emotionally ensuring they are well-prepared for reintegration to the same school or a new setting and future employment. 

The curriculum includes core subjects—English, Mathematics, Science and Art and Design—up to GCSE level, complemented by: 

• Humanities 

• Food  

• PSHCE including Citizenship, Careers Education and World Views 

• Practical Skills 

• Physical Education 

• ‘Outdoor Academy’ (Outdoor Education Provider) 

Bespoke packages can be made available to support learners based on need: these combine on-site learning opportunities alongside off-site provision including Reading Football Club, RAW mentoring, or MNR Mentoring. Our curriculum is based around each learner and incorporates the following 6 learning areas.

Accreditation Opportunities 

Whilst at Integration, learners can gain Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English (Reading and Writing) along with AQA Unit Awards.  

Personal Development and Wellbeing 

PSHE is central to the curriculum offer at Integration equipping learners with the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe and healthy, develop resilience, and prepare for life beyond school. It follows the PSHE Association’s recommended themes and includes statutory relationships and health education, ensuring compliance, inclusivity and relevance.  

Spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development (SMSC) is woven through the curriculum and opportunities are regularly sought to broaden learners’ experiences. British Values are promoted through timetabled Citizenship and Worldviews lessons, and learners enjoy participation in awareness days and multicultural celebrations throughout the year. Social action plays, virtual reality, and external presenters all help to root learning in real life experiences. 

Careers education is an integral part of the PSHCE programme at Integration and can be delivered through guest presenters, off-site visits, careers events, work experience, and individual guidance appointments. The programme is enriched using Unifrog- a high-quality online careers platform that supports personalised exploration and progression planning.  It is underpinned by the CDI Career Development themes ensuring that all young people are equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and insight to make informed, aspirational decisions about their futures.  

Integration prioritises learners’ mental health and wellbeing and Integration learners are supported in this area by trained staff and access to counselling where required.  

Integration works closely with mainstream school senior leaders to support successful transitions, and Integration’s Outreach Programme provides both post-PPP/transition support and targeted intervention for learners at risk of exclusion.
