Message from the Headteacher

iCollege is West Berkshire's dedicated provision for learners needing an alternative to the mainstream school environment.

It is a successful and supportive educational provision with high aspirations for all learners, where learners from Reception to Post 16 can thrive. It is an inclusive education service that offers learners opportunities that at least equal those available in local mainstream schools and members of staff appropriate and sustained opportunities for continued professional development.

The Shared Vision

In 2025, we are able to say that:

We offer excellent, safe and nurturing alternative educational provision in which each of our learners:-

  • make sustained and substantial progress from their starting points,
  • understand and value diversity, inclusion and mutual respect,
  • attend regularly, arrive punctually and engage fully in their learning,
  • progress successfully to next steps in education, employment or training, equipped to make a positive difference in society,
  • are known, valued and encouraged to be the best that they can be

Delivering the Vision

We deliver this vision through high-quality teaching, a supportive and inclusive culture, and a relentless focus on personal growth and aspiration, underpinned by strong leadership. Our staff, learners, governors and community work together to ensure every learner is challenged, cared for, and inspired to achieve their full potential.

Our team:

  • teach, challenge, and encourage our learners to meet and exceed their target  grades in all subjects.
  • provide a relevant and holistic curriculum that enables learners to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and develop wider skills for life and work.
  • ensure high levels of literacy, numeracy, and communication skills for every learner.
  • engender a strong sense of personal responsibility and kindness towards others.
  • make effective use of data and feedback to drive self-evaluation and continuous improvement of learner outcomes.
  • use our energy, technology, and resources creatively to maintain an engaging, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.
  • promote a positive learning ethos that fosters key life skills, including independence, resilience, flexibility, integrity, and self-discipline.
  • achieve outcomes that place our provision consistently within the top 10% nationally for value-added progress and achievement.

We will rely on

  • All team members – learners, staff, governors and stakeholders, having clear accountabilities.
  • Parents and carers being well-informed and engaged with our provision.

We offer:

  • Long-term placements to support learners achieve personal and academic success in Years 9, 10 and 11
  • Short-term proactive places to improve mainstream engagement in Key Stages 1 to 4
  • Suspension (fixed term exclusion) provision from day 6 for Key Stages 1 to 4
  • Bespoke packages, including core subjects, to meet individual learner needs in Key Stages 1 to 4, and for Post 16 learners with EHCPs
