Transport
The law states that it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that a child gets to school, including accompanying them, if necessary. This includes the parent determining how their child will get to school and may include making appropriate arrangements such as with a friend or a childminder to ensure that the child is accompanied, as appropriate.
Statutory entitlement to transport for pupils attending a Pupil Referral Unit (iCollege) is the same as for pupils of the same age attending other schools, and is subject to assessment under the rules for Distance, Low income, Available Route and Temporary Medical Condition.
Due to the nature of timetabling within the iCollege, it is usual to provide a bus or train pass to allow flexibility in the timing of travel.
When necessary, staff will take students to and from activities offsite in their own cars. Only staff who have the correct insurance are permitted to do this.
